Companies invited to develop their next digital innovation through the WebElevate Degree Programme.

Digital Skills Academy has today launched its 2014 Industry Partner Programme, inviting companies to develop their next digital innovation through WebElevate, Digital Skills Academy’s innovative digital technology Degree programme.

Since its inception two years ago, close to 100 companies including Ernst & Young, BT Ireland, Screentime ShinAwil, Soundwave Music, Telefonica Ireland, Oracle, Grab One, Gill and Macmillan and O’Brien Press have successfully partnered with the programme to develop a range of mobile apps, online games, websites and social media campaigns.

With a focus on developing the talents of graduate jobseekers to work in the digital technology and content sectors, the WebElevate programme provides a unique practice-based learning environment, offering participants opportunities to prove their digital capabilities by working in multi-disciplinary teams to develop a range of innovative digital products and services for industry partners. The programme has resulted in the successful delivery of many innovative and inspiring products, including:

  • The first Mobile App to support the learning of Irish Sign Language by parents of deaf and hard of hearing children.
  • An App providing an exhibition guide for visitors’ to the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition
  • A social media and online video campaign to promote the TV series ‘The Voice of Ireland’
  • Game development for Keg Kartoonz’s animated series The Pencil Pilots
  • A Mobile App for Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Alumni
  • Children’s maths game for Houghton Mifflin Harcourt
  • Digital marketing campaign for IDA Ireland.

Digital Skills Academy’s WebElevate programme is offered as a Bachelor of Science Degree (BSc Ord) in Digital Technology and Design, awarded by Dublin Institute of Technology. Focused on developing industry-ready talent, the programme has consistently delivered successful employment outcomes for graduates, with over 60% of the latest graduates (October 2013) now back in the workforce.
